Betty’s Daughter, Chelsea, Makes Play Dough with Betty’s Grandson, Carter

In this video, Betty’s daughter, Chelsea, and her grandson, Carter, make play dough. This is an excellent snowy-day activity to do with children around the holidays. This would also make the perfect homemade (and economical) Christmas gift—just pour the dry ingredients into a Mason jar or other decorative container and attach a tag with a list of the remaining elements needed. Ingredients: 1 cup flour 1 cup boiling water ½ cup salt 2 tbsp cream of tartar 1 tbsp cooking oil food coloring of your choice (a colored Kool-Aid packet can be used instead) Mix all ingredients together in a large bowl. Stir until a large clump forms. Transfer clump onto a hard surface, and continue kneading with hands until thoroughly mixed and an impressionable dough is formed. If stored properly, the play dough should last at least six months. Chelsea recommends that it be sealed in an air-tight Ziploc bag, and stored inside a plastic container for best results. Also in this video, Chelsea announces that her first children’s book has been published. It is entitled “What Should I Be?” It is available at www.amazon.com in both print and Kindle versions. Currently, the print version costs .99 and the Kindle version costs .99. It can be found by visiting Amazon and searching for her name, Chelsea Adkins.
