Don’t ask why we were there, it’s not a good story. What is a worthwhile tale is what happened after we met Chali, yammed in his ear for more than a minute, then followed him to his gig at Harvelles, where we chased him out the back door and yammed in his ear some more. We told him about something cool we had cooking with an organization called the Harmony Project. A real brilliant cause that helps kids who maybe couldn’t have afforded it without help be able to channel their talents and minds into music. We Told him that this could possibly be the coolest thing we’ve done to date, and we meant it. Chali, bein’ the “friendly neighborhood baritone” that he is, listened to us intently, gave us an email, and boom, you have follow through on that prediction. This is cool as all get-up.
