The Sweetest Rock and Roll Family; The Zappa’s, 1986

Part 2 of Frank being interviewed by comedian David Brenner on his short lived talk show, “Nite Life”, in the mid 1980′s. Check out Uber-cool band leader, Billy Preston, of “Nothing From Nothing” and the Beatles’ “Get Back” fame. In this segment, Frank introduces his 2 oldest Moon Unit and Dweezil (18 and 16) who seem to be some of the most well adjusted children in show business, especially for the offspring of one of the most iconoclastic musical icons of the time. Notice how ariculate they are and their lively sense of humor. Frank was nothing if not a good, attentive, present parent. man, look at the noses on these 2 Gentlemen; nearly identical. The Jew and the Italian are pretty close in size in the proboscus department. Dweezil is an excellent Guitarist in his own right, and Moon is an outspoken political activist and comedian herself, and both are busy raising families of their own. We miss Zappa, and while his kids haven’t nessisarily risen to his lofty heights of avant garde musical expression, they all seem to be living very happy lives. This interview is a tribute to his cleverness and grace.

Cambodia Life Center outreach 2009

Cambodia A war torn nation, full of despair and hopelessness, slowly moving out of its horrific past. A majority of the nation is poverty stricken and children are the most vulnerable in society .. many children have been abandoned and left to die as a result. Today, there are more then 600000 orphans & street children roaming throughout the city and countryside. On July 24, 2009 a 4 member mission team consisted of Ken Holzhei, Titus Tsao, Susan Tsao and aquaculture specialist Bernie Tsao arrived at the Cambodia Life Center just 37 kms northwest of Phnom Penh. The primary objective was to design & construct an intensive self-sustaining aquaculture system for the orphanage that will produce enough fish to feed 100 kids, twice a week and enough fish to sell in order to generate additional revenue to support the center. The facility was constructed on an existing site with an approximate area of 7100 sq. feet. These 20 ft. dia. Cylindrical growout tanks were made from simple ferro-cement construction. In addition to the 12 growout tanks, a hatchery and larval rearing facility was also constructed. All of this took a total of 5 and half weeks to complete. A hands-on workshop on induce spawning of Asian Catfish was also included. The newly completed tanks were stocked with a fast growing hybridized Tilapia. This aquaculture facility is estimated to produce 7500 kg or 16535 lbs /year. Simultaneously, Susan Tsao conducted daily sewing, art and baking lessons for the children

Betty’s 2010 Jack O’Lantern–Carved by Rick and Carter–NO RECIPE–

In this video, Betty’s husband, Rick, and 4-year-old grandson,Carter, carve this year’s Jack O’Lantern. The pumpkin was obtained on our recent field trip to Evans Orchard in Georgetown, Kentucky. Carter chose the theme of the Jack O’Lantern to be Darth Vader from the Star Wars movie. Rick gives information about choosing a pattern and transferring it to a pumpkin. He also explains the use of a chisel (or knife) to carve in bas relief style, leaving no holes but parts of the pumpkin that are thinner than others, allowing light to shine through and form a scene. We had a lot of fun on carving day, and Carter was very pleased with his Darth Vader Jack O’Lantern! We wish all of you a wonderful holiday season…and Happy Halloween from our family to yours! –Betty ♥♥♥♥♥

Meringue Ghosts Recipe Demonstration – Joyofbaking.com

Recipe here: www.joyofbaking.com Stephanie Jaworski of Joyofbaking.com demonstrates how to make Meringue Ghosts. Meringue Ghosts are haphazard mounds of sweetened meringue studded with cute little candy eyes. Although it is obvious that children enjoy the look and taste of these ghosts, I find that adults are not immune to their charms. I love how the outside of the meringue ghosts are so light and crisp that they immediately dissolve on the tongue, while their insides are soft like a marshmallow, and oh so sweet. Serve these at your next Halloween gathering and watch them disappear. We welcome comments on our Facebook page: www.facebook.com
